In a setback to BJP ahead of Gujarat Assembly elections 2017, senior leader and former MP of BJP Kanji Bhai Patel and his son Sunil resigned from the party. Patel was allegedly miffed from the party’s senior leaders over the issue of MLS's ticket allocation. Patel announced that his son Sunil will be contesting independently from the Gandevi constituency. Watch this video for more details.
